Kaiser was born in Lavonia, Georgia. His parents were two red Dobermans named Twelve Gage Hiott and Miss Priss. It is said that the Doberman Pinscher breed was first developed in the 1860's by a tax collector, dog catcher, and dog pound owner, Louis Dobermann. He mixed bloods from various German pinschers, the German sheppard, the Rottweiler, the Great Dane, and other breeds. His bodygaurd and watchdog was bred to be a smart, capable working dog that could just as easily fight off a lurking badit as the barking dogs of the family from whom he hoped to collect.

Kaiser was thought to be a blue Doberman in his first weeks. Looking to the photo below where Kaiser, on the right, and another "blue" male lay asleep, I would have guessed blue as well. I'll always wonder if the other turned into a handsome silver devil like Kaiser.

With that said, I'll ask a question to which I have not found the answer...How is the silver-grey color of a fawn Dobi in any way similar to the fawn seen in breeds of bullbaiter ancestry (Boxer, American and English Bull Dogs, Bull Terriers)?

Whatever the answer, I've got a fawn Boxer-mix and a fawn Dopberman Pinscher who look alike only in their personality.

Ripley, the red, and Stikes, the fawn, were males from a previous litter.
