I owe a lot to Georgia Red's previous owner, Jeff, and his step father, Dale. These guys put a lot of time, energy, and expense into making this truck a meaty, hearty, strong example of Chevrolet born American muscle.
Jeff's Story and Description of Georgia Red before she was red; January 2004
This is a very nice 1972 Chevy K5 Blazer. I have been restoring this vehicle for the last three years focusing on the driveline as the priority and cosmetics as last. The vehicle was originally bought in Georgia (where it still resides), with the original weak 3.08 gear ratio, bad steering, weak tranny, and a ton of work needed to be done.
The vehicle now has a 20K mile 275 horse 4 bolt main 350 bored .0030 over w/ a RV cam, rebuilt turbo 350 tranny, NP205 transfer case, brand new drive shafts, brand new - rebuilt rear Chevy12 bolt, and front Dana 44 with 3:73 gear ratio sporting brand new Yukon Axles and Detroit street/ trail lockers with Warn hubs. The tub has been rhino lined, with like-new interior that has about two years of wear and tear, new Smitty Built roll bar, new Clarion sound system (removable face CD player/stereo), w/ custom built water proof speakers stowed neatly under the front seats, new cluster, dash, glove box, door panels, carpet, mats, newly sealed windshield/rubber, brand new back fiberglass hatch (also newly sealed w/ new rubber).
Jeff, his mates, and his Apache... that's so cool!
The suspension consists of a 3 inch lift w/ brand new 4x ProComp ES9000 heavy duty offroad shocks, rear angled blocks to reduce load on the driveshaft and increase horsepower. To be included in the driveline upgrades are all new steering, brand new steering box, hoses, drag links, pitman arm, ball joints, brakes, speedo cable, new 15x8 Chevy 4x4 ralley wheels, center caps, beauty rings, and 33x12.50 Goodyear MTR’s with less than 5K on them.
This 1972 truck tracks straight down the road with no vibrations and no pulling, outstanding ride quality. I replaced the original gas tank w/ a composite rubber tank so there will be no rust and no contamination, to include replacement of all the rubber fuel lines. The cooling system has all new thermostat and hoses, and a brand new 4 core radiator, and new Flowmaster Dual Exhaust system.
The reason I am selling is I am an Army Officer stationed in Korea for 2(+) years w/ nowhere to store while I am gone. I have over $12,000 dollars in this vehicle, everything is complete, just pick out the color you want, paint, and you have a $18,000 completely restored classic. I hate to sell, but a father of two, deployed, and it has sadly become a paperweight.
